Carlos' stellar play repays Creamline support

From missing out to making up for lost time, Tots Carlos’ presence proved invaluable in Creamline’s four-set victory over Petro Gazz last Thursday, where her 21-point performance, coupled with Jema Galanza’s outstanding play, secured a hard-fought win.

Expressing her gratitude to the management, coaches and teammates for their unwavering support, the three-time Premier Volleyball League MVP highlighted the personal significance of her decision to participate in the Korean V-League Asian Quota Draft tryout. Her return was timely, infusing the team with clutch performance they needed to bounce back from a previous loss and even their record in the All-Filipino Conference semifinals.

“It was my choice to go there (Korea), and I'm grateful enough, really grateful for the (Rebisco) management to really let me grab that opportunity. Grateful sa mga coaches ko, sa mga teammates namin na wala akong narinig na kahit ano na kahit may mami-miss akong isang game,” said Carlos.

It wasn’t actually just a game but a match so key to their title-retention drive.

“Ako, this is very personal, yung pumunta ako doon at pinayagan ako, so parang core memory ko ‘to sa buhay ko. Actually ‘di pa rin medyo nagsi-sink in yung mga nangyayari sa past days sa akin kasi nga natalo kami sa Choco, tapos nasa Korea ako, tapos meron kaming game against Petro Gazz,” said Carlos.

“Yun nga, like what I said, it was my choice to be there, so I know na kahit hindi na ako sabihan nina coach, they expect me to really play (against the Angels), and deliver,” she said.

The victory tied Creamline with Petro Gazz at second with 1-1 slates, behind Choco Mucho’s 2-0 record with Chery Tiggo reeling back consecutive setbacks.

Carlos expressed her joy at having contributed to Creamline’s success and extended her gratitude to the coaching staff for entrusting her with the opportunity to take the court.

“Masaya lang din ako kasi kahit galing ako doon, pinalaro ako nina coach na talagang yung tiwala nila sa akin, di talaga nawawala. Masaya lang ako sa mga ganung klaseng mga tao na nakapaligid sa akin,” Carlos said.

Looking ahead to their upcoming match against Chery Tiggo on Sunday, the former UP standout emphasized the team’s commitment to bounce back from previous setbacks, while acknowledging the importance of learning from past losses and remaining focused on the task at hand.

Carlos also vowed to give her all, echoing the team’s determination to succeed in the playoffs.

“I'm sure yung bawa’t isa sa amin, gusto ring makabawi, and we'll make sure na may natutunan kami doon sa mga talo namin sa eliminations,” she said.

Carlos also reiterated the team’s mindset of starting afresh, underscoring the importance of preparation and leaving behind any lingering setbacks.
“Pagdating naman sa semis, sabi ni coach lagi na 0-0 na yan, so kung ano yung nakaraan, kalimutan na. Magpe-prepare kami,” she added.

With their sights firmly set on the ultimate prize, the Cool Smashers are poised to overcome any challenges that come their way, including an embattled Chery Tiggo eager to upset the odds.
