Creamline Cool Smashers superstar Alyssa Valdez is willing to do whatever it takes to help her team in the upcoming 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference finals. Despite being sidelined with a right knee injury, the three-time PVL Most Valuable Player is eager to rejoin the team if given the green light by her doctor.
Valdez, who is known for her fierce competitiveness, said that she would fight for her team whether she's on the court or on the bench.
"I'm really, really willing to do whatever it takes to help the team," she said.
However, Valdez is well aware that the decision to play is not solely up to her. She's currently in the process of recovering from her injury and is hoping to get her doctor's approval to join the team in their title defense in the All-Filipino Conference finals.
"I'm really praying that I can still contribute to the team in other ways, hopefully soon. Now, that's all I'm gonna say. We really have to wait for my doctor's approval," she said.
Meanwhile, Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses said that Valdez has already made great strides in her recovery. However, he insisted that they won't force Valdez back into action in the finals.
"Well, I don't think we'll force her to play. But if the doctors say she's allowed to play, we'll let her play. However, as of now, it's still a bit risky. Hopefully, Alyssa can play," Meneses said.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Valdez's playing status, the Cool Smashers are determined to defend their title and are counting on the support of their fans as they face their opponents at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
