Ara Galang shines bright in Candon City

Title: Ara Galang Shines in Ilocos Sur as F2 Logistics Triumphs

In the picturesque town of Candon, Ilocos Sur, a volleyball spectacle unfolded as F2 Logistics' Ara Galang lit up the Candon City Arena in front of a packed crowd of 5,000 spectators on a Saturday night. This night was more than just a game; it was a celebration.

Galang and the Cargo Movers were part of a double-header event that featured three other teams. But what set this evening apart was the heartfelt connection between the players and their passionate fans at the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College-Main Campus, where a meet and greet session took place before the matches.

The warmth and enthusiasm of the Ilocano fans left a deep impression on the 28-year-old outside hitter from La Salle. Galang was determined to repay the love and support she felt from the crowd by delivering a stellar performance in their match against Galeries Tower.

"During yesterday's meet and greet, there were so many people, and their energy was incredibly high. We felt a bit exhausted after training and lunch, but when we saw them, it was heartwarming," shared Galang. "It's truly heartening because they are so delighted to see us, and we're equally happy to see them. Meeting them here is special since it's not very close to our home. It's worth it."

And she indeed delivered on her promise. Galang rose to the occasion for the Cargo Movers, who were missing key players Kianna Dy due to a knee injury and Myla Pablo feeling under the weather. She scored a game-high 14 points, with 11 successful attacks, two aces, and a block, leading her team to a convincing 25-15, 25-22, 25-17 victory over the Highrisers.

Beyond giving back to the fans, Galang, a native of Angeles City, Pampanga, emphasized her commitment to supporting her team in any way possible. "Personally, my mindset is to contribute to the team, not just through my moves but also by contributing points. We need to work together as a team, move as one," she stated.

The Cargo Movers were not a one-woman show. They received significant contributions from other key players, such as Jolina Dela Cruz (11 points), Majoy Baron (10 points), Aby Maraño (8 points), and the fan-favorite Ivy Lacsina (6 points). This collective effort resulted in their second consecutive win in three contests.

Galang highlighted the significance of victories like this, where almost all the players are actively involved in the offense. "This is a big deal. At least we get to practice that. It's a big help for our upcoming games. This is a long conference, three months in total, so what matters is that we move as one," she added.

In Candon, Ilocos Sur, it wasn't just a game; it was an unforgettable experience, a night of unity, and a testament to the power of sports to bring joy and inspiration to people's lives.
