BaliPure scorns Chery Tiggo, ends campaign on a high

BaliPure continued to serve as bane to Chery Tiggo, closing out the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference's classification phase with a 15-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-22, 15-7 stunner over the defending champion, Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Despite the win, the Purest Water Defenders still finished in last place after tallying just two points in the 7th-9th classification table. BaliPure lost to Army-Black Mamba in straight sets last Friday.

Meanwhile, the Lady Troopers finished at seventh place after tallying four points as it earned a valuable point after the five-set loss they received at the hands of the Crossovers last Sunday.

Still it was a good way for BaliPure to end its campaign as it now holds a 2-0 record against Chery Tiggo in the PVL.

"Nanalo kami which is good kaya sabi ko sa mga players ko, basa classification phase tayo pero we want to end the tournament on a winning note," said Purest Water Defenders head coach John Abella, who also defeated Chery Tiggo last year. 19-25, 25-19, 13-25, 27-25, 15-12.

Bern Flora spearheaded BaliPure's only win of the season with 14 points, 24 excellent digs, and 15 excellent receptions while Marian Buitre added 13 points on 10 attacks, two blocks, and an ace along with 15 excellent digs.

Janine Marciano, who missed the final set due to an apparent ankle injury, still had 11 points while Norielle Ipac added 10.

Bicar dished out 25 excellent sets to go along with six points while Alyssa Eroa had 10 excellent receptions.

On the other hand, Mylene Paat's 26-point outburst went down the drain. Dindin Santiago-Manabat added 20 markers and 13 excellent digs.
