ILOCOS NORTE -- Graze Bombita and the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders made a splash in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference after slaying giants Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
Bombita and Bern Flora carried BaliPure to complete a come-from-behind 19-25, 25-19, 13-25, 27-25, 15-12 victory and overcome the erstwhile-unbeaten Chery Tiggo led by Jaja and Dindin Santiago on Thursday at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center here in Bacarra.
After playing their hearts out, the 30-year-old outside spiker was happy to prove that their team, which had losing records in the 2019 season, was able to prove it can compete at a professional level.
"Sobrang nakaka-high morale. Ngayon lang namin napatunayan yung sarili namin na kaya pala talaga namin. Kinailangan namin kumapit talaga para matapos namin hanggang dulo," said Bombita, who delivered 24 points from 21 attacks, two blocks and an ace.
Besides Bombita, Flora also provided the crucial attacks and great floor defense and setter Alina Bicar made the brilliant place to erase a 1-2 match disadvantage with a rampant fourth-set rally to overcome a 13-19 deficit.
"Kailangan naming mag focus talaga, i-relax yung mind namin, magawa namin yung dapat naming gawin and tiwala talaga sa sarili and tiwala sa mga kasama, sa mga coaches yung mga sinasabi nila at pinapagawa namin," the BaliPure mainstay said.
After slaying the giants, Bombita said this statement win will be a big boost for the remaining bubble games of the Purest Water Defenders, who improved to a 1-1 record.
"Alam na namin na kaya namin. Ngayon, kailangan naming gawin yung pinakabest namin para makuha namin yung mga susunod na panalo," she said.
Flora insisted it's just a short celebration for BaliPure with bigger challenges await in the remainder of the short Open Conference.
"Hindi pa tapos, marami pang games na mapagdadaanan namin pero gagawin namin lahat ng best namin para manalo each game." (AL)
