Brooke Van Sickle lights up Petro Gazz's path to new season

Brooke Van Sickle emerges as a beacon of excitement and anticipation for Petro Gazz in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

After a stellar performance in the PNVF Champions League, where she led Petro Gazz to victory, and clinched the MVP and Best Outside Spiker awards, the 24-year-old outside hitter remains grounded and unfazed by the spotlight.

During the PVL Media Day at the TV5 Media Center, Van Sickle exuded confidence and poise, emphasizing her commitment to consistency rather than succumbing to the pressure of accolades. “Awards are cool and all, but my goal as a player is just to be consistent. I want to be able to support my teammates, be there for them, and just be that consistent player. I’m excited about the PVL, not stressed at all,” she declared.

Blocking out external distractions, Van Sickle channels her focus into becoming a reliable contributor to Petro Gazz's pursuit of its first title since the 2022 Reinforced Conference.

For her, the journey is about embracing a role that transcends individual achievements.

"I want to be there for my teammates. They have my back; I want to be able to have their backs and the chemistry that we’re already building, and the relationships that we’re building," she emphasized.

As a Hawaii-born athlete, Van Sickle values teamwork and understands the significance of collective effort over individual prowess.

"I just want to be as consistent as possible. I want to be there for my teammates, and the chemistry that we’re already building, and the relationships that we’re building," she expressed with gratitude.

Reflecting on Petro Gazz's recent triumph over the previously unbeaten Cignal in the PNVF Champions League, Van Sickle acknowledges the unpredictability and competitiveness of the PVL.

Despite Cignal's unblemished record, she remains unfazed, recognizing the necessity for relentless effort.

"You have to be on at all times, and any team coming in, any game, they could win. So that basically just proves that we have to make sure we take everything seriously and keep working hard because you don’t know what’s going to happen," she astutely stated.
