Brooke Van Sickle's parents delighted as daughter shines in Philippines

Lisa and Gary, the proud parents of Brooke Van Sickle, made the long flight from the US to the Philippines to see their daughter ply her trade.

Their journey began when Brooke was merely eight, a tiny spark of ambition igniting within her.

Today, she stands tall as a beacon of strength and skill for Petro Gazz.

Last Monday, Lisa and Gary embarked on a journey themselves, flying to the Philippines to celebrate their daughter's 25th birthday.

"It’s been so much fun watching her blossom into the player that she is today," shared Lisa, her voice filled with pride, reminiscent of her roots in San Emilio, Ilocos Sur.

"She’s gone a long way... Seeing her now, it’s been a good journey for her, and I think she’s ready for, you know, this moment, playing here. [We’re] happy to be here," added Gary, his eyes gleaming with paternal affection.

Their presence was felt keenly at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Thursday, a testament to their unwavering support as Brooke and the Angels clashed with Chery Tiggo in a heart-stopping showdown.

Despite the Angels falling short, Brooke's fighting spirit soared high.

She gifted her parents a performance to cherish, tallying a game-high 27 points, showcasing her mettle with 24 attacks, two blocks, and an ace, while also displaying her defensive prowess with 20 excellent digs and 12 excellent receptions.

"I think what impresses me the most about her is her fearlessness... She’s always been that way," remarked Lisa.

Amidst the highs and lows of competition, Lisa and Gary found solace in knowing their daughter flourished not just on the court but in the embrace of Philippine warmth.

Brooke's arrival saw her immediately leaving an indelible mark, guiding Petro Gazz to the PNVF Champions League title, and claiming the tournament MVP accolade.

"Oh my gosh, she’s been amazing actually... from Day 1, since Brooke got here, she loves it here. Absolutely loves it here," Lisa shared, her words resonating with genuine delight.

"From all the things we hear from Brooke, as friendly as everyone is, everyone’s welcoming, and we’re just excited to see her play," Gary added, his anticipation mirroring that of a proud father witnessing his daughter's triumphs.
