In the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference, MJ Perez has quickly become the centerpiece for Cignal HD Spikers, showcasing why she’s one of the most formidable forces in volleyball today.
The 6-foot-2 Venezuelan outside spiker has ignited the HD Spikers’ campaign with her exceptional play, providing a spark that has catapulted her team to a strong start in the tournament.
Perez has made an immediate impact, delivering a standout performance with 22 points—19 from attacks, two aces, and a block—along with eight receptions in a commanding win over the Flying Titans.
She continued her impressive form with a blistering 30-point explosion against the Thunderbelles, which included 26 spikes, three aces, a block, and 10 receptions. Her contributions on the court have been nothing short of transformative, placing her as a key player in Cignal's offensive arsenal.
Despite her individual brilliance, team dynamics and support remain central to Cignal’s strategy.
Captain Ces Molina, who added 16 points in a recent match against ZUS, emphasized the importance of collective effort.
“I think yung one thing na kailangan namin maging mindset talaga is to help the team and to help Amiga (Perez) every game. Kasi nandito siya to help us, pero hindi ibig sabihin kailangan buhatin niya yung buong team,” Molina said.
Molina highlighted the need for her teammates to maintain strong passing to complement Perez’s attacking prowess. “Kailangan din tulungan namin siya – for example, sa skills, kailangan namin pumasa nang maganda kasi strong attacker yung import namin. So kailangan hindi kami mawawalan ng pasa every game,” Molina added.
The acquisition of Perez represents a significant opportunity for Cignal to achieve their ultimate goal in the PVL. Molina, who faced Perez as a rival in the before, sees this collaboration as a game-changer.
“Syempre sobrang happy kasi hindi ko na kailangan i-receive yung mga palo niya,” Molina remarked with a smile. “Very inspiring and motivating para sa team, malaking bagay na si MJ yung nakuha naming import para nga makuha na rin namin yung goal namin this conference."
