Chie Saet's leadership remains vital to Petro Gazz

When the Petro Gazz ship was hammered by rough waves on Monday night, Chie Saet made sure to step up and calm the rattled Angels in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference semifinals.

"Stay calm [ang sinabi ko] kasi kanina, medyo nag uumpisa na naman kaming mataranta, marattle, kasi nag bago sila ng target sa service which is nag short ball sila so medyo nag shake yung pass namin siguro kaya rin nakuha nila yung third set," said the 37-year-old Saet.

After the Angels took the first two sets of Game Three, the Cignal HD Spikers went to work and dominantly bagged the third set to try and fend off the streaking Petro Gazz.

Unfortunately for them, Saet was there to provide the team much-needed guidance down the stretch.

"Nag recover lang kami, sinabi ko lang na back to zero, reset so ayun hanggang sa nakarecover naman lahat," she added.

Through Saet's veteran leadership, Petro Gazz bagged a 25-21, 28-26, 15-25, 25-21 Game Three win to secure its spot in the finals.

Angels head coach Jerry Yee bared the importance of having a veteran like Saet in the team's arsenal.

"Very, very important yung role ni Chie sa amin so bukod sa veteran, siya nagpapatakbo ng plays, siya nagpapagana ng napakaraming spikers namin so of course, very important," expressed Yee.

Petro Gazz will face Creamline in the finals on Wednesday, 6:00 PM at the SM Mall of Asia Arena
