Choco Mucho navigates life without Kat Tolentino

As the 2024 Premier Volleyball League elimination round reaches its climax, Choco Mucho finds itself facing an unexpected challenge: the absence of Kat Tolentino.

Hindered by an ongoing auditory condition, Tolentino has been sidelined for the Flying Titans' last five games, with her return uncertain as the season progresses.

Head coach Dante Alinsunurin's somber acknowledgment after Choco Mucho's recent defeat to Creamline painted a picture of uncertainty.

“Siguro ngayon ‘di pa namin alam kung makakabalik siya, pero yun nga pinapalagay na rin namin yung loob namin na baka hindi na siya makabalik talaga this conference," he revealed.

Despite Tolentino's pivotal role on the court, the Flying Titans managed to maintain a commendable 4-1 record in her absence, showcasing their adaptability and depth.

Victories against formidable opponents such as Akari, Galeries Tower, Capital1, and Strong Group highlighted the team's resilience. However, their resilience was put to the test in a sobering loss to Creamline, where Tolentino's absence was keenly felt.

Coach Alinsunurin acknowledged the void left by the 6-foot-3 opposite spiker but expressed confidence in Royse Tubino, who stepped up admirably in Tolentino's absence.

While Tubino's contributions have been notable, there's an understanding within the team that Tolentino's irreplaceable presence extends beyond the court.

Yet, amidst the challenges, there's a collective determination to persevere.

“Siguro may factor na rin yung hindi paglaro ni Kat samin, pero sabi ko nga bago naman mangyari kay Kat, nandiyan naman si Royse Tubino na kung ano ‘man yung nagagawa niya, nakukuha namin,” said Alinsunurin.
