Creamline not letting anything distract them from goal

Alyssa Valdez said that the malfunctioning air conditioning system inside the Philsports Arena, in a way, helped Creamline in its sweep of Petro Gazz in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference semifinals, Thursday afternoon.

The broken air conditioning system in the venue – which was later on fixed during the second set – according to Valdez helped the Cool Smashers warm up in their dominant, 25-21, 25-20, 25-23 win over the Angels.

“In practice naman we train naman na wala ring aircon so I think we just really have to yung perspective namin we have to turn it into something na positive rin talaga,” said Valdez, who finished with 11 points and 15 excellent digs.

Valdez also lauded her teammates for not letting the situation get to them and for keeping their focus despite the humid condition inside the venue.

“We’re doing this every single game so advantage rin samin na pawis na pawis kami habang naglalaro so init na init talaga, our bodies warmed up talaga so talagang nag-work for us. We’re just really thankful na naka-focus lahat at hindi iniisip yung mga ganung little distractions,” she added.

Valdez ended up with 11 points and 15 excellent digs in the win that gave them the early lead in the round-robin semifinals.

The grand slam-seeking Creamline will next take on Cignal on Sunday, 2:30 PM at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
