Creamline sweeps BaliPure, gains playoff incentive

Powerhouse Creamline kept its perfect run as it smothered BaliPure, 25-12, 25-21, 25-16, to match Petro Gazz's 2-0 slate, Monday night at the Paco Arena and Sports Center.

Ace playmaker Jia Morado-De Guzman produced a 14-excellent set performance to anchor the Cool Smashers' romp and clinch the best player of the game honors. But the rest of the star-studded roster put in their share to remain the only squad in the nine-team field that has yet to drop a set.

Tots Carlos spearheaded Creamline's attack with 14 points off nine hits, three aces, and two blocks.

Alyssa Valdez added seven points and 10 digs while Celine Domingo and Jema Galanza had six points each.

Creamline, which also trounced PLDT, 25-16, 25-18, 25-22, last Thursday, disputes the No. 1 spot with Petro Gazz at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams have assured twice-to-beat edges in the knockout stage.

All four teams in the group, however, will all advance to the quarters which will include the top four teams in Group A.

The Water Defenders, on the other hand, dropped to 0-2.

No player from BaliPure hit double digits in scoring with Patty Orendain leading the squad with six. Rapril Aguilar, Janine Marciano, and Marian Buitre each had six points for the Water Defenders.

Winners will advance to the best-of-three semis with the victors to dispute the crown, also in a best-of-three affair.
