Four wins in a row. A team firing on all cylinders. A surge up the standings.
The Choco Mucho Flying Titans are finally living up to their potential in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, and for Deanna Wong, the formula for their success is simple: teamwork.
After a rocky 2-3 start to the season, the Flying Titans found their rhythm, stringing together crucial victories against Farm Fresh, ZUS Coffee, PLDT, and most recently, Akari. These wins placed them in a three-way tie for third with Cignal and PLDT, injecting new life into their playoff aspirations.
“Yun nga, teamwork,” Wong emphasized after Choco Mucho’s hard-fought victory over Akari on Saturday night. “Hindi naman kasi isang tao lang makakapanalo ng game, so ‘yun. 'Pag off ang receive, cover ng palo, parang connected lang talaga siya sa gagawin namin.”
Their match against the Chargers was a testament to this chemistry. Despite losing momentum in the second set, Choco Mucho showed resilience, eking out a tight third frame before dominating the fourth, sealing a 25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 25-15 victory.
Wong acknowledged their mid-game lapse but credited the team’s ability to regroup and push forward.
“Yun nga, sabi ni coach, maganda nung una, pero nung pagdating ng second set, I think nag-lax kami, pero team effort talaga kasi,” she said.
The road hasn’t been easy for the Flying Titans. Injuries, national team call-ups, and health setbacks have disrupted their lineup throughout the season. Yet, time and again, they have found ways to step up for one another.
“May time na ito [si Sisi] nawala, ako nawala, si Isa nawala... We were trying to be patient with each other, and we were trying to help each other,” Wong shared.
That patience and trust in one another are now paying dividends. With every passing game, Choco Mucho is building not just momentum but a collective belief that they can contend for the championship.
“Yun naman yung sa amin eh, pag isa yung nawala, kami yung tutulong sa kanya para mabalik. Team effort, and I'm glad na nakuha namin yung panalo.”
With their confidence soaring and their chemistry clicking, the Flying Titans are proving that when they work as one, they are a force to be reckoned with. And if they continue on this trajectory, the rest of the league should take notice—Choco Mucho isn’t just on a streak.
They’re on a mission.
