Delos Santos admires Gandler's dedication to Cignal

In a remarkable display of dedication and passion for the sport she loves, Vanie Gandler, a rookie player for the Cignal HD Spikers, rushed from her college graduation ceremony at Ateneo de Manila University to join her team in a Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference game.

Her commitment to the game was nothing short of extraordinary.

As the HD Spikers clashed with the formidable F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in an intense second set, Gandler arrived at the bench, donning her game uniform. Despite the exhaustion and the emotions associated with graduating, she expressed her unwavering willingness to play.

Although Gandler could only participate in the last two sets, contributing to Cignal's first loss in Pool B with a score of 20-25, 28-30, 25-23, 22-25, her efforts did not go unnoticed.

Coach Shaq Delos Santos was in awe of her dedication and perseverance.

"Her effort was truly amazing," exclaimed Delos Santos, marveling at Gandler's determination to catch up with the game. "But before that, we had a plan, and we were really willing to wait for her," he added, emphasizing the team's preparedness to wait.

Delos Santos, also the head coach of University of the Philippines, congratulated Gandler on her graduation and expressed his belief that the best is yet to come for the young athlete. He revealed that the team had a long-term plan for Gandler, recognizing her potential and the valuable role she would play within the HD Spikers.

"We are happy for Vanie [Gandler] because she has graduated, and she is starting a new journey in her life," stated Delos Santos, exuding pride.

"We are also thankful because she is part of our team. I know she will have many roles and will be a great help to our team," the Far Eastern University product continued, expressing gratitude for Gandler's presence and foreseeing her significant contribution.

Gandler's professional debut had already been impressive, as she scored eight points in Cignal's opening win over Petro Gazz, a team led by her former college coach, Oliver Almadro. However, her graduation day marked a bittersweet moment for her, as the HD Spikers suffered their first loss, resulting in a 1-1 record against the Cargo Movers.

As Gandler embarks on this new chapter in her life, transitioning from her academic achievements to the demanding world of professional volleyball, her journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and individuals seeking to balance their passions and education.
