Diego believes Lacsina will excel as outside hitter

The echoes of a late-night conversation between Ivy Lacsina and head coach Regine Diego reverberated through the Filoil EcoOil Centre as the 23-year-old volleyball star assumed her new position as the starting outside hitter for F2 Logistics in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference.

Lacsina's transition from a formidable middle blocker to an open spiker was still a work in progress, but her debut as an open hitter in the All-Filipino Conference showcased her potential for greatness. In a recent game against Farm Fresh, she displayed her prowess, delivering a game-high 13 points through 12 attacks and one block, contributing to the Cargo Movers' straight-set victory of 25-22, 25-20, 25-23.

"It hasn't been an easy journey, but with the help of my teammates and coaches, I have fully embraced the position given to me by Coach," Lacsina humbly shared, reflecting on her new role with gratitude.

As a former National University standout and UAAP champion, she is no stranger to pushing her boundaries and adapting to new challenges.

Lacsina revealed that her Invitational debut was greatly influenced by a heartfelt conversation she had with head coach Regine Diego.

"Coach has always emphasized her trust in me. We had a late-night conversation where she assured me of her confidence. That played a significant role in my performance today," Lacsina confessed, acknowledging the impact of Diego's unwavering support.

Diego recognized Lacsina's potential to become one of the best outside spikers in the country but acknowledged that there were still areas she needed to develop in her new role.

"Since her first appearance as an outside hitter, I knew she had doubts because it was an unfamiliar position for her. However, I believe she has the potential to become one of the top outside hitters in the Philippines," expressed Diego, her voice full of conviction and hope.

"She still has much to learn, and I hope that in the future, she will blossom into one of the best. I want her to play as an outside hitter for the entire conference," added Diego, demonstrating her unwavering belief in Lacsina's abilities.

With Diego's trust and guidance, Lacsina vowed to repay the faith placed in her and fully embrace her new position.

"That's precisely what I need to do – earn their trust by showcasing my abilities and working hard. This is my journey, and I am dedicated to making it a success," Lacsina declared with determination.
