Domingo steps up for Panaga

ILOCOS NORTE -- The ever-ready Celine Domingo provided the spark for Creamline during its dominant sweep victory over PLDT on Sunday at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center here in Bacarra.

With starting middle blocker Jeanette Panaga still nursing a sprained right ankle, Domingo was called upon to fill the void left by the former.

And she definitely did not disappoint.

The middle blocker out of Far Eastern University produced six points, which included four in the first set, in the 25-16, 25-13, 25-12 win over the Power Hitters.

"Ever since ready naman po talaga ako kung tatawagin ako ni coach Sherwin [Meneses], kung tatawagin niya ako para mag contribute sa team," said the 23-year-old Domingo.

"So, kanina yung mindset ko is same pa rin, na gawin ko lang talaga yung role ko and everything will follow," she added.

Creamline assistant coach Sherwin Meneses was very happy with what he saw not just from Domingo, but from the entire Cool Smashers bench as well.

It was a well-distributed offense led by Jia Morado which saw at least 10 players convert a point.

Meneses hopes that the team can sustain this form in the following matches especially since Panaga is still out for at least seven days.

"Siyempre expected naman namin yung contribution ni Celine e, kasi same lang din yung tine-training nila every day. So ayun, maganda yung pinakita ni Celine and sana mag tuloy tuloy yung contributions nung ibang bench players namin," said Meneses. (DJ)
