EJ Laure is making her highly anticipated return to the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) as she suits up for the Nxled Chameleons in the ongoing 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference. The team announced the acquisition of the 27-year-old outside spiker on Monday afternoon.
Laure, a former University of Santo Tomas (UST) standout, brings her wealth of experience to the youthful Nxled squad, which is seeking its first win in the tournament. The Chameleons, led by new Italian head coach Ettore Guidetti, have struggled in the early stages of the conference, dropping back-to-back matches to PLDT and ZUS Coffee.
In a social media post, Nxled expressed their excitement over Laure's arrival: “We’re so thrilled to have you on board and can’t wait to see you light up this fresh start! We’re rooting for you on your return to the PVL court, EJ!”
Laure parted ways with Chery Tiggo during the offseason, ending nearly two years with the Crossovers. She joined the team in 2021 after their historic title run and went on to compete in eight conferences, contributing to three semifinal finishes.
Her first assignment with Nxled comes with an intriguing storyline, as the Chameleons are set to face Chery Tiggo on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Philsports Arena. This matchup could see Laure immediately going up against her former teammates, adding another layer of intensity to her return to the court.
As Nxled looks to bounce back from their rocky start, Laure's presence and veteran leadership are expected to provide a much-needed boost to the young team.
