F2 Logistics rode out a highly-charged, tense-filled, extended tussle in the second frame then battled back from a third set stumble to squeeze out a 25-20, 30-28, 23-25, 25-22 victory over Cignal and match Choco Mucho’s hot 2-0 start in Group B of the 2023 PVL Invitational Conference on Tuesday.
The Cargo Movers seized command midway in the fourth behind a wave of hits aided by Vanie Gandler’s attack error that made it 17-13 and F2 Logistics held sway the rest of the way to pound of the victory in a game marked by long rallies and fierce exchanges.
The HD Spikers threatened within one in the clutch twice, the last at 21-22, but Ivy Lacsina scored on cross-court and off-the block hits. And after Chay Troncoso stalled the Cargo Movers with a kill, Lacsina came up big with a block off Rachel Anne Daquis to wrap up the match.
Kim Dy sizzled with 23 points, including 20 attack points, after scoring nine hits against Farm Fresh to claim the game’s top honors but Lacsina posted a 13-point output for the second straight game as an open spiker.
Earlier, the Cargo Movers trailed in the stretch of the protracted duel in the second but pulled through behind Lacsina’s instant offense coupled with Cignal’s costly net fault. Though they practically came out flat after the energy-sapping set and struggled a bit early in the fourth, the Cargo Movers regained their bearing and rhythm to regain control before hanging tough in the clutch.
Cignal slipped to 1-1.
