F2 Logistics moved its cargo up north then picked up another straight-set win, disposing of Galeries, 25-15, 25-22, 25-17, to crowd three others at fourth in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference elims before a huge Saturday crowd at the Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur.
Save for a few shaky moments in the second frame, it was all the Cargo Movers’ show with Ara Galang taking over the scoring load in the absence of Myla Pablo, finishing with 14 points. Jolina dela Cruz and Majoy Baron backed her up with 11 and 10 markers, respectively, while Aby Maraño, Ivy Lacsina and Kim Fajardo combined for 19 points.
Pablo was under the weather and didn't play.
So overpowering were coach Regine Diego’s wards that they piled up 49 attack points against the Highrisers’ measly 22-hit output. Lacsina and Baron again controlled the net and came up with two blocks apiece as F2 Logistics finished with seven, five more than their rivals.
Galaeries, however, had more aces, 6-5.
Creamline continues to set the pace with a 3-0 slate followed by Akari with 3-1 and Petro Gazz with 2-0.
The Cargo Movers thus notched their second straight win after dropping a sorry five-setter to the Akari Chargers then sweeping the Nxled Chameleons. But Diego was far from being satisfied although she liked what she saw from the Cargo Movers.
“Not perfect,” she said about the win. “But that’s how it is. Hindi naman straight line ang improvement. It’s a series of good and bad games. Eventually, magkakaron ng okay na laro.”
“Hopefully, sa mga ganitong laro, experience-wise, mas magkaroon sila ng connection,” added Diego, who also emerged on top in the first face-off of the league’s female coaches.
Diego likewise downplayed the Cargo Movers’ erratic plays that led to 24 errors, 10 more than one of the league’s newcomers, saying: “We need to make points and for you to make points, you have to make errors. By attacking hard, there are more chances of making errors. Pero ganun talaga.”
No Highriser scored in double-figures with Norielle Ipac’s seven markers proving to the team’s best. Rap Aguilar added six points, while Carlota Hernandez, Dimdim Pacres, and Fhen Emnas chipped in three points apiece.
After yielding the first set via big margin, Galeries kept it close in the next although they saved two matchpoints on back-to-back F2 Logistics miscues before Galang halted their charge with another long ball attack to Zone 5.
"We need to work together as a team. Personally, I just want to contribute, hindi lang sa galawan pero pati sa points. We also need to polish our game, minimize our errors," said Galang, who also cited the crowd support.
"Sulit ang byahe namin at sana nag-enjoy ang lahat ng nanood dito," she added.
The Cargo Movers scored six of the first seven points in the third and stayed in firm control the rest of the way on their way to clinching the one-hour, 29-minute victory that tied them with the PLDT High Speed Hitters, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers and the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
The victory also served as a big boost to F2 Logistics’ preparation against their next tough match against Petro Gazz on Nov. 2 in another PVL on Tour foray at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.
