After bundling out Choco Mucho last Thursday, F2 Logistics expects no major issue tackling an Army side that has lost all its six games as the Cargo Movers set out for the third semifinal berth in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference back at the Filoil Ecooil Center in San Juan today (Saturday).
Petro Gazz joined league-leader Creamline in post-season play with a four-set win over ousted Akari, also the other night, with the fired-up Cargo Movers (5-2) going for the all-important victory and the third spot at the close of their elims campaign at 4 p.m.
However, PLDT, toting a 4-2 slate, faces a Cignal side out to keep whatever slim hopes it nurtures on a 2-4 mark as the sister teams collide in the 6:30 p.m. main game.
The High Speed Hitters moved into strong contention with a four-game sweep after yielding a tough five-set loss to the Cargo Movers last Feb. 7. But they failed to stretch it, succumbing to the Cool Smashers’ power and class and losing in shutout fashion.
But they look to rebound again although expect the HD Spikers to likewise come out strong from a long break in pursuit of a second straight win and third overall against four losses.
The HD Spikers, on the other hand, will have the Lady Troopers as their final opponents at the close of the elims on Thursday.
Ties will be broken via points then set ratio.
The semifinals will also be a round robin affair with the top two disputing the crown and the losers clashing for the bronze in a pair of best-of-three series.
Meanwhile, F2 Logistics coach Regine Diego will likely try out on new combinations when they take on the Lady Troopers, hoping to produce more threats they would need for the next phase tipped to be tight and fierce.
But expect Kim Dy, Myla Pablo and Aby Maraño to still set the tone against the Honey Royse Tubino and Jeanette Villareal-backed Lady Troopers desperately looking for the elusive win.
Games are telecast live on One Sports, One Sports+, Cignal Play, and SMART Live Stream and on pvl.ph.
