A determined Choco Mucho squad sets out against a well-rested PLDT side on Tuesday as prelims action in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference heats up at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
Sitting alone at the top with a 4-0 record, the Flying Titans aim to extend their winning streak after witnessing sister team Creamline’s shock shutout loss to a resurgent Chery Tiggo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna last weekend.
Choco Mucho is pulling out all the stops in its quest for a fifth consecutive victory, fully aware of the challenge posed by the High Speed Hitters in their 6 p.m. encounter.
While Chery Tiggo’s recent triumph underscored the competitiveness of the league, Choco Mucho remains focused on asserting its dominance over PLDT, reminiscent of its decisive romp over Cignal last March 14.
Sisi Rondina and Kat Tolentino have been dishing out stellar games for Choco Mucho with the former scoring 23 points and the latter adding 14 markers in their demolition of the HD Spikers.
Although coach Dante Alinsunurin drew outputs from only six players against PLDT, including Isa Molde, Mars Alba, Maika Ortiz and Cherry Nunag, he is expected to get offensive outputs this time from Maddie Madayag, Regine Arocha, Royse Tubino and Mean Mendrez.
PLDT, on the other hand, enters the match after a period of rest, providing the High Speed Hitters with an opportunity to strategize and analyze their opponents’ strengths and weaknesses.
Led by coach Rald Ricafort, the High Speed Hitters are ready to showcase their equally star-studded roster, including key players Savi Davison, Fiola Ceballos, Dell Palomata, Erika Santos, Jules Samonte with support from Kiesha Bedona. Majoy Baron, Rachel Austero and setter Kim Fajardo.
Meanwhile, Cignal expects to rebound against Strong Group in the 4 p.m. opener with Ces Molina, Roselyn Doria, Riri Meneses, Jovelyn Gonzaga and Vanie Gandler, who all failed to hit double-digit scores the last time out, seeking to redeem themselves from their lackluster showing against the rampaging Flying Titans.
On the other hand, the Athletics, led by Jan Cane, Justine Rebleza, Dolly Verzosa,, Mary Joy Onofre, and Chumcee Caole, have dropped their first four games, leaving them as the only winless squad in the 12-team fold.
Games are aired live on free-to-air on One Sports, in HD on One Sports+, as well as on the PVL’s official website (pvl.ph) and the Pilipinas Live app. Global coverage includes the new free-to-air channel – RPTV.
