Galanza makes sure Creamline bounces back from Reinforced nightmare

Creamline Cool Smashers’ Jema Galanza delivered the game-winning hit that sealed their victory against Petro Gazz in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference finals. The match was held on Thursday night at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

After a slow start in the first set, the Cool Smashers managed to bounce back and took the next two sets. They went on to take a commanding 24-15 lead in the fourth set, putting them on the verge of winning the championship.

Galanza then took center stage and made a crucial crosscourt attack that penetrated the Angels’ defense, securing Creamline's second-straight All-Filipino Conference crown.

“I just really wanted to win. That's all. I didn't think of anything else but to hit the ball. That's what our coach told us, to hit the ball,” Galanza said after the game.

“The coach would scold those who don't hit, so we just hit. Whatever your role is on the court, just do it, and your mindset should be to win.”

Galanza finished the game with 19 points on 19 attacks, 16 excellent receptions, and 11 excellent digs.

The Cool Smashers had a rocky start to the series, losing the first game in four sets. They bounced back in Game Two with a thrilling five-set victory, kick-starting their comeback attempt.

“ We’re really happy because we felt the exhaustion from playing three games against Petro Gazz, but our mindset was to not let go of this game because we really wanted to win the championship,” Galanza said.

“Especially after what happened last year, we really wanted to keep the momentum going for us.”

Galanza's clutch performance and the team's never-say-die attitude gave Creamline another well-deserved championship title. The Cool Smashers and their fans can now celebrate their hard-earned success and look forward to the next PVL conference.
