Gerflor, the newest addition to the Premier Volleyball League, introduced four exceptional athletes who will be donning the team's colors for its debut season.
The standout among them is none other than Alyssa Bertolano, a rising star who has decided to embark on a professional career after a mere two years at the University of the Philippines.
Bertolano, a 20-year-old opposite hitter, made a resounding impact during the highly competitive UAAP Season 84 tournament, catching the attention of fans and scouts alike with her exceptional skills and undeniable talent.
The young athlete's decision to turn pro comes as a surprise, yet it also signifies her unwavering determination to pursue her dreams and excel at the highest level.
Joining Bertolano on Gerflor's roster is seasoned veteran Shannen Palec, whose presence is expected to bring a wealth of experience to the team.
Palec, having previously been a vital part of Choco Mucho during the intense bubble tournament, is well-versed in the rigors of professional volleyball. Her leadership qualities and well-honed skills are anticipated to provide invaluable support to Gerflor as they embark on their inaugural season.
The Defenders have also secured the services of two formidable liberos, Julia Angeles and Pia Sarmiento, both of whom have established themselves as reliable defensive pillars in the sport.
Angeles, formerly of Balipure, and Sarmiento, a former member of Chery Tiggo, bring their exceptional court vision, quick reflexes, and impeccable passing abilities to Gerflor, adding depth and stability to the team's defensive line.
Other players unveiled by Gerflor are playmakers Fhen Emnas and Sarah Verutiao.
