Jovelyn Gonzaga and the relentless Cignal HD Spikers are showing no signs of slowing down as they gear up for a pivotal clash against the Gerflor Defenders.
Having recently notched a crucial victory over Nxled, Cignal has edged closer to the coveted semifinal spot. However, the journey is far from over, and the HD Spikers find themselves standing at the precipice of playoff entry, set to face the winless Gerflor on December 5.
While the HD Spikers could clinch a semifinal berth if Petro Gazz and PLDT stumble in their remaining matches, Gonzaga and her team are not willing to gamble on fate. Their eyes are set on a decisive triumph over Gerflor, aiming to fortify their confidence and pride as they march into the semifinals.
"We need to win to carry confidence and our pride into the next stage, into the semis," asserted Gonzaga in the wake of Cignal's triumph over Nxled at the Philsports Arena last Saturday.
Coming off a heart-wrenching five-set defeat against Chery Tiggo, the HD Spikers rebounded emphatically by dismantling the Chameleons in straight sets (25-17, 25-14, 25-14), elevating their win-loss record to an impressive 7-3.
Gonzaga revealed that their setback against the Crossovers, where they held a 2-1 lead before conceding, fueled a determination that propelled them to a resounding comeback against Nxled.
"The struggle we had from the last game really ignited a fire in us. So the constant reminder from the coaching staff (after the loss to Chery Tiggo) was for us to move forward because we still have two crucial games ahead," Gonzaga explained.
"Our training was intense, really pushing ourselves, which we deserve. The only remedy there is to just follow the coaching staff, and that's what the team did. We followed for our own good, and we saw in the outcome of our game what we worked hard for in training."
As the Cignal HD Spikers approach the showdown with Gerflor, the message is clear: their pursuit of victory is unwavering, fueled by the lessons learned from setbacks and a collective commitment to triumph in the face of adversity.
