Grethcel Soltones doubtful for Game Two

Petro Gazz is set to miss a crucial piece in Game Two of the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference finals.

Grethcel Soltones, arguably the Angels' most consistent player both in offense and defense, hurt her right knee during the fourth set of the Angels' 16-25, 25-23, 12-25, 30-32 Game One loss to the Creamline Cool Smashers on Wednesday night.

Soltones attempted to receive Tots Carlos' hit but was unable to stand on her own afterward. She was carried to the bench and did not return to the game.

According to Petro Gazz head coach Jerry Yee, Soltones will be scheduled for an MRI first thing on Thursday. The veteran tactician is also doubtful that the 26-year-old can return for Game Two.

"Yeah, kasi kahit ano pa yun, AC[L] or MC[L], mahirap na humabol. Walang ano e, the following day game na agad," revealed Yee. "We will schedule MRI tomorrow morning."

Yee is looking at Jonah Sabete to possibly fill the void left by Soltones, who ended the game with 12 points.

"Similar role, we have Jonah [Sabete]. So sana mag-step up si Jonah," said Yee.

"Nakita naman natin medyo jittery ng konti pero andito na e, may tao naman tayo to replace yung mga first stringers and we have tomorrow to train a little, review a little, so sige lang laban lang," he added.

The Petro Gazz-Creamline Game Two will be held on Friday at 6:00 PM at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
