Michele Gumabao will finally make her return to Creamline in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference after skipping the previous tourney to focus on politics.
The 29-year-old opposite spiker skipped the Open Conference to join the Mothers for Change party-list as its second nominee. Unfortunately, the party-list missed out on a seat in the House of Representatives after collecting only 64,785 votes in the 2022 elections.
"As a rookie, I'm just happy to be back," quipped Gumabao during the Kumu x PVL press conference on Thursday at the F1 Hotel in Taguig. "I miss playing volleyball and I'm happy to be back with my teammates."
In Gumabao's absence, Tots Carlos stepped up in the biggest of ways - leading the Cool Smashers to the Open Conference title while also bagging home the Most Valuable Player award and the Best Opposite Spiker plum.
Now, after a one-conference hiatus, the former La Salle standout looks to help Creamline nab its second consecutive title in the conference which will feature Japan's Kobe Shinwa Women's University and Chinese Taipei's Taipei King Whales.
"Yung bago sa akin? Abangan niyo na lang sa game namin on Tuesday so sana manood lahat and mag-support lahat this PVL season," said Gumabao.
"I will really work hard, I really hope na this season for our team na walang ma-injure, not just for us but for all the teams and makapaglaro lahat."
