Ivy Lacsina continues to work on building connections with Nxled

Ivy Lacsina  emerged from a string of lackluster performances to steer Nxled to a resounding victory over Galeries Tower in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

After a series of disappointing losses, Lacsina appeared to have rediscovered her rhythm, orchestrating a remarkable comeback with a standout performance.

Previously averaging a modest 8.7 points during the team's three-game slump, Lacsina unleashed her full potential, delivering a stellar 17-point display alongside 11 exceptional digs in a commanding 25-21, 25-18, 25-15 triumph over the Highrisers on Tuesday night.

Reflecting on her resurgence, Lacsina attributed the team's success to a renewed focus on unity and enjoyment on the court.

"For me, maybe it wasn't really lost, but we just lacked teamwork and enjoyment in the past few games when we suffered defeats. So tonight, we were constantly reminded to just enjoy ourselves, and as you can see, it made a difference," Lacsina remarked following the match.

Acknowledging the challenges she faced in the lead-up to the breakthrough victory, the former National University standout disclosed tensions with her setters in previous encounters.

Despite the setbacks, Lacsina expressed unwavering confidence in her teammates, Kamille Cal and Madji Mangulabnan, emphasizing her commitment to adapting and forging stronger connections with them.

"I never lost my trust in our setters. It's just that our connection took a lot of effort to build, especially with Kamille Cal and Maji Mangulabnan. We've been through a lot to synchronize our play. We've had arguments too, numerous times. But I realized it's not solely up to them to adjust to me. So this whole week, I made a conscious effort and said, 'No, I should adjust too. I will adjust.' And it paid off," Lacsina explained.

The victory marked a significant turnaround for the Chameleons, who had faltered against formidable opponents including Choco Mucho, PLDT, and Cignal in the early stages of the conference.

Buoyed by their triumph, Lacsina vowed to continue collaborating with her teammates to maintain their newfound momentum and strive for consistency in future matches.

"Yes, it's better now, but it's not yet a hundred percent. So we can't afford to stop here and settle. We still have many opponents ahead, and they're equally strong," Lacsina affirmed, underscoring the team's determination to sustain their upward trajectory in the league.
