The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference 2023 was one for the books.
Fans were treated to intense and exciting matches throughout the tournament. And as the finals series came down to a do-or-die Game Three, Creamline proved that it was indeed the best team in the league, earning their second consecutive All-Filipino Conference title and sixth overall.
The Cool Smashers faced the tough challenge of tying the finals series after a grueling five-set win against the Angels in Game Two.
With only a day to rest and prepare for the next game, the team showed their heart and dedication as they all showed up on time and with smiles on their faces during their Wednesday practice.
Captain Jia De Guzman was overwhelmed by her team's effort, saying "It's so overwhelming for us because it wasn't easy for us to get this championship. We really saw the hard work that everyone on the team put in." She also became the team captain after Alyssa Valdez missed the entire conference due to a right knee injury.
The Cool Smashers' hard work and determination paid off as they dominated Game Three, winning in four sets, 20-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-15. De Guzman led the way for her team, bagging her fourth Finals Most Valuable Player award and eighth Best Setter award.
Despite her individual accolades, De Guzman was quick to credit her team and coaching staff for their championship run, saying, "We have to give it to the team also and sa coaching staff for helping us get this championship."
The Creamline Cool Smashers once again proved that they are a force to be reckoned with in the PVL. Their heart and dedication to their craft, coupled with their talent and skill, make them one of the best volleyball teams in the country.
And with their sixth overall championship, the Creamline Cool Smashers have etched their name in the history books of Philippine volleyball.
