Jia De Guzman remains unsatisfied after Game One triumph

Despite her stellar outing in Game One, Jia De Guzman is still far from satisfied.

The 26-year-old playmaker out of Ateneo put up a clinic on Wednesday night, delivering 39 excellent sets in Creamline's 25-16, 23-25, 25-12, 32-30 victory over Petro Gazz in the Game One of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference finals at the Mall of Asia Arena.

De Guzman's superb playmaking display saw Tots Carlos and Alyssa Valdez feast above the net, recording 26 points each in the win while Jema Galanza and Jeanette Panaga added 17 and 13, respectively.

Still, the six-time league Best Setter also bared that she and backup setter Kyle Negrito can still do better moving forward.

"Kyle [Negrito] and I kasi as setters of Creamline, we know how deep our lineup is in terms of spikers so yung pag-distribute I guess today, honestly in my opinion, we could do better pa," said De Guzman, who scored four points in the win.

"We could do better in the next game and that's something na paghahandaan namin tomorrow in the training," she added.

Expecting a tough battle against the Angels on Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, De Guzman is hoping that the team can bring out their best come Game Two.

"We'll do our homework again, we'll go our training tomorrow, we'll do our best to recover before the game on Friday kasi malayo rin yung laro e and it's an arena na we had a not so good experience before," she said.

"But that's an experience we learned from and hopefully malabas namin yung best namin for Friday's game namin."
