Jorelle Singh relishes first win with Capital1

 

Capital1 clinched their first victory in the Premier Volleyball League, marking a pivotal moment for the franchise.

 

Led by determined team captain Jorelle Singh, the Solar Spikers overcame a tough battle against Strong Group, securing a 25-18, 25-20, 19-25, 25-20 victory on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

 

Despite facing setbacks, including a loss in the third set, Capital1 maintained their intensity throughout the match.

 

Singh contributed 13 crucial points to lead her team to success.

 

"Sobrang nakakatuwa po kasi itong game na ito sobrang importante po sa amin kasi yun po yung makakapag-boost ng morale namin eh," expressed Singh, emphasizing the significance of the triumph for the team's confidence heading into the 2024 All-Filipino Conference.

 

Before this breakthrough win, the Solar Spikers had suffered consecutive defeats in straight sets against Chery Tiggo and Farm Fresh. The victory not only brought joy but also relieved the pressure on the players, as highlighted by head coach Roger Gorayeb.

 

“Syempre masaya kasi alam niyo naman itong team na ito less than two months pa lang kami…Yung ganitong panalo makakapagboost ng morale namin sa mga susunod naming laro,” shared Gorayeb, underscoring the impact of the win on team morale.

 

While celebrating their success, both Singh and Gorayeb acknowledged that their journey had just begun.

 

The team's chemistry, a work in progress, was evident in several on-court miscommunications that contributed to 28 errors during the one-hour and 48-minute match.

 

“Hirap na hirap parin kami magmula sa setter hanggang sa libero. Sabi ko nga, every day is a learning process for us. Every day, kailangan matuto kami. I learn from them, they learn from me, nang sama-sama,” explained Gorayeb, highlighting the ongoing learning curve for the team.

 

As they savor the taste of victory, the Solar Spikers are well aware that there is room for improvement.
