Justine Dorog retires as player, takes on coaching duties at Farm Fresh

Justine Dorog, at the tender age of 25, has decided to retire from competitive volleyball, choosing to exchange her sneakers for a coaching whistle.

The announcement came on Wednesday as she revealed her new role as the full-time assistant coach to Jerry Yee at Farm Fresh, marking the beginning of a new chapter set to unfold in the 2024 PVL season.

Hailing from Catmon, Cebu, Dorog expressed a sense of fulfillment after a journey that saw her playing at every level of competitive volleyball in the country.

She shared, “I think nagawa ko na lahat ng gusto ko gawin as a player,” signifying that she believes she has accomplished all her goals as an athlete.

With an eagerness to transition into coaching full-time, Dorog is set to become an integral part of the Farm Fresh coaching staff.

Adding another layer to her commitment, she revealed, “I’ll be a part of the Farm Fresh coaching staff and at the same time, may hawak akong high school team.”

Dorog's connection with Jerry Yee dates back to 2015 when she was one of the key recruits during Yee's tenure at the University of the Philippines. Afterward, she played for Chery Tiggo and Gerflor before reuniting with Yee in the previous season.

Now, armed with a wealth of experience and knowledge accumulated throughout her playing career, Dorog is poised to pass on her skills to the next generation of players.

She expressed her passion for this new role, stating, “I'm very passionate about this. I love sharing everything I learned while playing. I'll focus on this and watch the young ones shine from the sidelines.”
