As the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference draws near, Kamille Cal, now in her second stint with Nxled, is gearing up to showcase a heightened level of performance and determination.
The former National University playmaker, with a year of professional experience under her belt, is setting the bar high for herself in the upcoming tournament.
Reflecting on her debut conference, Cal expressed her commitment to applying the lessons she garnered and elevating her game to contribute significantly to the Chameleons' success.
"Second conference ko ngayon, I expect from myself na, of course, to perform better since nanggaling na ako sa previous conference," Cal affirmed.
"Ang dami ko talagang natutunan don, ang dami kong natutunan from Coach Taka, from all the experiences that I have gathered since then. I expect myself to be smarter, and I expect the progress to be significant," she added.
Addressing the team's readiness, Cal pointed to their recent participation in the Akari Cup as a crucial indicator of their current standing. Despite acknowledging the areas that need improvement, the 5-foot-10 playmaker exuded confidence in Nxled's ability to make necessary adjustments and surpass their ninth-place finish from the previous year.
"It's really important lalo na we want to know and we want to see where we are. Kung ano pa yung mga dapat naming ayusin, kung meron ba kaming pagkukulang sa anumang aspeto ng volleyball or sa sarili namin as an individual," said Cal.
"Eto kasing mga ganitong liga, doon mo masusubukan yung character mo as a player. Kung sino yung mga nakakaharap niyo na hindi part ng PVL."
In their debut season, Cal and the Chameleons left a lasting impression with a 4-7 win-loss record in the Second All-Filipino Conference. Victories over formidable opponents such as Gerflor, Galeries Tower, Farm Fresh, and sister squad Akari showcased the team's potential.
As the PVL All-Filipino Conference unfolds, all eyes will be on Kamille Cal and Nxled, eager to witness their evolution and the strides they make in pursuit of excellence.
