Kianna Dy finally broke out of her recent slump and led F2 Logistics to a convincing victory over Cignal on Saturday night. The Cargo Movers swept the HD Spikers in straight sets, with Dy contributing 22 points on 21 attacks and an ace, as well as seven excellent digs.
Dy had struggled in her team's previous two games, scoring just one point in a loss to Chery Tiggo before rebounding with 11 points in a five-set win over defending champion Creamline.
After the game, the 27-year-old La Salle product credited her renewed confidence to her commitment to training and said she hoped to build on her success in the coming games.
"I'm trying to get my confidence back in every training, every game," Dy said. "It's very important, especially as we move closer to the playoffs, so hopefully, this continues."
Dy explained that she had taken heed of head coach Regine Diego's advice to finish the game early and avoid a protracted struggle. The Cargo Movers have already played two five-set games in this conference, more than any other team.
"Coach told us that it's very important for us to finish strong because if they fight back, we'll have a hard time," Dy said. "So that's our mindset. Do we want to go to five sets or finish it now? That's what we were thinking."
Diego, for her part, expressed confidence in Dy's ability to regain her form and lead the team through the final elimination assignments. She emphasized the importance of patience and trust in helping Dy achieve her peak performance.
"I think it's good to take it slowly so her body doesn't get too shocked," Diego said. "I'm patiently waiting for her to be okay. I trust that she's going to be at her peak eventually, maybe not this conference, maybe this conference, maybe next, I don't know.
"But I still trust how she handles herself and the team because experience and leadership are different. I'm hopeful that she'll reach her peak this conference," the rookie head coach added.
With their latest win, F2 Logistics moves one step closer to securing their playoff status.
And with Kianna Dy back on form, they will undoubtedly be a team to watch as they continue their campaign in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
