KingWhale head coach raves about Valdez in reunion

KingWhale head coach Teng Yen-Min was left impressed with the strides that Alyssa Valdez has made since they last teamed up together.

Back in 2017, Valdez suited up for Attack Line in the Chinese-Taipei Volleyball League where he played under Teng.

“Alyssa, her body, her jump, her energy, her moves, her thinking is good,” raved Teng. “In the player’s meeting, every player was saying that Alyssa is good, can control the ball, can dig, and is smart.”

Valdez and Teng met each other on the taraflex on Saturday when Creamline took on the Taiwanese club for their final match of the semifinals round.

Unfortunately, their on-court reunion was cut short after Valdez was forced to sit out the rest of the match after landing on Bea Carvalho’s foot during a block attempt late in the third set,

The Taiwanese club eventually scored a five-set 25-15, 17-25, 25-22, 24-26, 15-5 win over the Cool Smashers to punch its ticket to the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference finals where they will also meet the Rebisco-backed squad.

KingWhale, though, will have to face Cignal first in the final semifinals match. Teng plans to field her younger players to give the veterans a chance to rest for their finals match-up against Creamline.

“Tomorrow, we will relax and have fun! We will try younger players,” said Teng.
