Kungfu Reyes urges Chery Tiggo to keep eyes on prize

Chery Tiggo head coach Kungfu Reyes is keeping his team grounded and focused. As they gear up to face Galeries Tower, Reyes isn't letting complacency seep into their game.

The Crossovers find themselves deadlocked in a fierce semifinals race, sharing the top spot with Creamline, Choco Mucho, and Petro Gazz, all sporting identical 8-2 records.

Every match counts, and the upcoming clash against the Highrisers could tip the scales in Chery Tiggo's favor for a spot in the semis.

Reyes understands the importance of not underestimating their opponents, despite having bested three of the four teams vying for the semifinals.

"Like what Eya said earlier, we remind them from time to time. We give respect to our upcoming opponent and, of course, to ourselves," Reyes emphasized after their victory over Akari.

"But for us, our self-respect, the respect for our team, the demands we need to meet as a team, that's always our baseline to keep us on track," the seasoned coach added.

Chery Tiggo's momentum was undeniable in their recent showdown against the Chargers, where they clinched a crucial win with a sweeping score of 25-17, 25-20, 25-17.

Eya Laure led the charge with 14 points, backed by Ara Galang with nine points, and contributions from team captain Aby Marano, Mylene Paat, EJ Laure, and Cza Carandang, each adding seven points to the tally.

"Our remedy for forgetfulness is reminders. We just keep on reminding them that what's important now is to be present in the moment because the game isn't over yet, and everyone wants to win," Reyes pointed out.

"So, once again, our respect for our opponents and for ourselves, that's what we always emphasize to them."

With determination and focus, Chery Tiggo is poised to tackle whatever challenges come their way, striving to keep their eyes on the prize and secure their spot in the coveted semifinals.
