Former PVL Best Import Lindsey Vander Weide is set for a return, rejoining Petro Gazz—the same club she led to a championship nearly three years ago—for the 2025 Reinforced Conference next month.
The Angels made the announcement official on Monday night.
Back in 2022, the 27-year-old outside hitter spearheaded the Angels’ most recent Reinforced Conference triumph, finishing as the tournament’s fourth-best scorer with 161 points, the second-best server with a 0.37 average per set, and the fourth-best spiker with a 36.04 percent efficiency rate.
Vander Weide also earned the league’s first-ever Best Foreign Guest Player award in its professional era, in addition to claiming Finals MVP after steering Petro Gazz to a sweep over Cignal in the championship series.
The Angels remain a formidable contender, fresh off their All-Filipino Conference crown earlier this year. The team Vander Weide is returning to still features much of the same core she once led to glory, albeit now guided by a different coaching staff and complemented by a few new faces.
Adding to the sense of familiarity are several holdovers from her first stint with the Angels, as well as longtime friend and former University of Oregon teammate Brooke Van Sickle.
This time, Vander Weide comes back with even more experience, having played internationally with Changas de Naranjito in Puerto Rico and in the United States with the San Diego Mojo, Athletes Unlimited, and the Orlando Valkyries.
