Choco Mucho middle blocker Maddie Madayag credited new head coach Dante Alinsunurin after her impressive opening-day performance in the Flying Titans’ victory over Akari on Saturday night.
Madayag finished with 11 points on nine attacks, an ace, and a block to lead the Rebisco-backed squad’s 25-15, 25-20, 25-20 debut victory over the Chargers in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
“I’m very happy na binigyan ako ni coach Dante ng opportunity for my redemption kasi ang tagal nung recovery ko. Sobrang sakit ng pagkabagsak ko non and sobrang saya lang na nakabawi ako ngayong game,” said Madayag after the victory.
The 5-foot-11 middle blocker played her first full game after coming back from an ACL tear on her left knee which she sustained during the 2021 Open Conference in the Ilocos Norte bubble. She served as a service specialist for Choco Mucho last conference
Madayag said that she is ready to help the Flying Titans in any way she can as they try to bounce back after a forgettable 2022 season.
“Hindi ko naman iniisip na yung POG. Syempre kahit anong way na I can contribute to the team gagawin ko naman kung sa blocking, kung magli-lead ba ng team okay lang, plus points na lang na POG kami,” added the 24-year-old middle blocker.
“Ibig sabihin mas gumagana yung sistema na gustong i-apply ni coach Dante sa amin,” she added.
Choco Mucho will go up against their former head coach Oliver Almadro and his Petro Gazz Angels at 6:30 PM.
