Michelle Cobb has officially ended her volleyball playing career at 26 years old.
The veteran setter of the Akari Chargers announced her retirement on Wednesday night through a heartfelt Instagram post, closing the door on her Premier Volleyball League (PVL) stint after three seasons.
“Volleyball has been a huge part of my life. It’s where I found confidence, built lifelong friendships, and learned to push myself, win with pride, and lose with grace,” Cobb wrote.
“After years of love and dedication to the game, I’ve decided to close this chapter. I’m retiring with a grateful heart, proud of everything this journey has given me. To everyone who’s been part of this journey, thank you for being family. Love you all so much! Maraming salamat po.”
Cobb, however, will remain involved with Akari in a new capacity.
The Chargers revealed that Cobb will stay with the team as an assistant manager and setting coach.
“As I step away from the game, I carry the strength, love, and determination it gave me. This isn’t the end — just a new chapter, written with the same heart that played every point,” she added.
Before turning pro, Cobb played for De La Salle University in the UAAP, where she won back-to-back championships in Seasons 79 and 80.
She joined Akari in 2022 and played a key role in shaping the Chargers’ identity in the PVL. Cobb served as team captain and primary playmaker, helping Akari secure a silver medal in the 2024 Reinforced Conference and a bronze in the 2024–25 All-Filipino Conference.
Her leadership on and off the court made her one of the cornerstones of the team.
Now, Cobb is set to continue her volleyball journey behind the scenes — this time, guiding the next generation of Akari Chargers.
