Mika Reyes sees silver-lining in losses to Creamline, Petro Gazz

Mika Reyes admitted that she got frustrated after the PLDT's 0-2 start in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.

Facing two league champions to start the tournament, PLDT lost to Creamline via sweep before falling to Petro Gazz in a four-setter which took the High Speed Hitters out in the twice-to-beat race.

But on Wednesday night, PLDT finally cracked the win column after sweeping BaliPure, 25-20, 26-24, 25-22, at the Paco Arena.

"Personally, nakaka-frustrate rin talaga kasi entering [the tournament] isang previous champion yung nakalaban namin so mataas din talaga nilalaro nila. Buo talaga sila," said Reyes.

"Pero hindi rin naman reason yun para hindi kami mag perform and kailangan din namin abutin kung ano yung level ng mga kalaban namin para mas mabuo pa yung team namin," she added.

Reyes delivered 11 points off seven attacks, three blocks, and an ace to lead the High Speed Hitters to the third seed in Pool B.

The former Sta. Lucia star said that the team had the chance to reassess and clean up its mistakes after the two consecutive losses against the Cool Smashers and the Angels.

Moreover, the team was also able to work in its chemistry while preparing against the Water Defenders.

"Sa totoo lang medyo hassle kasi siyempre parang two consecutive games and then coming to this game at some point, personally siyempre parang nag da-doubt na parang hindi pa rin kami nakakapanalo," said Reyes.

"Pero I think it's a good thing din naman na nangyari yun kasi yung mga adjustments namin, ang dami pa rin talaga naming kailangan baguhin, i-adjust, lalo na yung chemistry ng team namin."
