Myla Pablo grateful for trust from Coach Koji, Petro Gazz

From reigning champions to grappling with their worst losing streak, the Petro Gazz Angels' journey through the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference has been nothing short of tumultuous.

Struggling with sickness and injuries, the Angels faced a daunting four-game skid, marking a challenging period for the franchise.

Amid this adversity, head coach Koji Tsuzurabara turned to a familiar face for a crucial boost: Myla Pablo.

The seasoned wing spiker, who had been largely sidelined this season, stepped up in a significant way, leading the Angels to a much-needed victory.

In their match against Choco Mucho on Tuesday night, Petro Gazz rediscovered its winning touch, sweeping the game, 25-18, 25-21, 25-18.

Pablo, seizing the opportunity to start for the first time this conference, delivered a stellar performance with 11 points.

“Kaya nga sabi ko na kung binigyan ako ng chance ng coach, i-embrace mo yung gusto ng coach para manalo,” Pablo remarked after the match. “I’m really happy and thankful kay Coach Koji for trusting me to play against Choco Mucho. Ang laking bagay sakin na nakalaro ulit ako.”

Despite her limited playtime this season, Pablo embraced her role as a starter with enthusiasm and determination. Her performance was a vital contribution to breaking the team’s four-game losing streak and providing a glimmer of hope for the remainder of the conference.

“Minsan lang ako bigyan ng chance ‘eh, bakit hindi ko pa gawin yung best ko? Ginawa ko lang yung best ko for the management, the coach, and the teammates kasi sobrang down na namin today, pero at least na win namin itong laban against Choco Mucho,” the former league MVP shared.

Petro Gazz's struggle with a short-handed roster has been evident, contributing to their longest losing streak in franchise history. However, Pablo remains optimistic about the team's prospects.

“Pag naka-recover tayo, bumawi tayo sa remaining games natin and huwag tayo ma-down kasi hindi pa naman tapos yung laban ‘eh, kumbaga proseso ng team ito, matalo o manalo, basta heads up lang,” she said.
