Myla Pablo remains proud of F2's Invitationals stand

In a fiercely fought semifinal clash between F2 Logistics and the foreign team Kurashiki in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference, one absence made a significant impact. Kianna Dy, sidelined due to a right knee injury, left a void that the Cargo Movers struggled to fill, resulting in their downfall and eventual elimination from the semis contention.

Having missed her second consecutive game in the semifinals, Dy's presence was sorely missed on the court.

F2 Logistics suffered its third-straight loss, succumbing to Kurashiki with a score of 20-25, 22-25, 20-25. As a former league MVP, Myla Pablo, who has battled her fair share of injuries in the past, understood the significance of Dy's absence and the importance of prioritizing her health.

"Kianna's knee is swollen, but I'm not sure which knee it is. I think she needs around three weeks of rest, so we can't force her to play. Of course, that's her health," said Pablo.

Realizing that Dy's recovery was paramount, the team chose not to push the former De La Salle University star, allowing her to heal properly. While her absence was felt keenly, the team took solace in the knowledge that there is a next conference where Dy can make her return in full form.

The effects of Dy's absence were evident, particularly in the pivotal moments of the match. Kurashiki capitalized on this vulnerability and secured their place in the finals. Nonetheless, F2 Logistics displayed commendable determination and fighting spirit throughout the game.

"We still have the next conference, so I think it's better for us to let Kianna rest during this conference," Pablo added, emphasizing the importance of considering Dy's well-being and the team's future prospects from a long-term perspective.

Ivy Lacsina, a former middle blocker converted to an open spiker, stepped into the opposite role to fill the gap left by Dy. However, the transition proved challenging, and Lacsina was limited to just two points by Kurashiki's formidable defense.

Despite the setback, Myla Pablo, once again, demonstrated her leadership and tenacity by shouldering the scoring load, registering an impressive 12 points during the match. However, the team collectively acknowledged that they lacked the offensive edge and court balance that Dy brought to the game.

"We really lacked offense on the court, especially when Ivy Lacsina struggled as an opposite hitter. It's really difficult to balance the positions of each player inside the court," said Pablo.

Nonetheless, the players remained committed to their roles and responsibilities, determined to fight for their team and give their best performance. The absence of a key player like Kianna Dy was undeniably a challenge, but it also served as an opportunity for the team to showcase their resilience and adaptability.

"But of course, the roles given to us by the coaches, we really need to embrace and fulfill them because it's for the team," Pablo affirmed.
