Mylene Paat, the former Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Premier Volleyball League, officially made her comeback on Thursday during Chery Tiggo's thrilling victory over NXLED in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference.
Paat's successful return was first hinted at in the Crossovers' previous game, where she contributed two points in limited playing time during their win over Petro Gazz. However, it was against the formidable Chameleons that Paat truly left her mark.
Unleashed in the game, Paat began by coming off the bench in the first set before dominating the next three frames, amassing an impressive 16 points with 13 powerful attacks and three crucial blocks. This outstanding performance highlighted her resilience and strength after recovering from a right foot injury sustained during the offseason, causing her to miss the first four games of the season.
Reflecting on her journey back to the court, Paat expressed gratitude to her coaches for their unwavering support during her recovery. "I really trust the process and progression they've given me, especially the coaches' trust, so I'm really thankful," shared Paat, who serves as one of the senior leaders for the Crossovers.
During her extended playing time, Paat not only showcased her physical recovery but also provided crucial vocal leadership on the court. Her absence in the previous matches was keenly felt by Chery Tiggo, and her return not only boosted the team's scoring but also lifted their spirits.
In a thrilling match against NXLED, where every set was fiercely contested, Paat's voice resonated on the court, calming the Crossovers during challenging moments. With middle blocker Imee Hernandez sidelined due to injury in the second set, Paat's leadership became even more pivotal.
"In every game, especially in the last set, what I shouted to them was let's put our hearts into this fight. So, with heart, the team will surely win," shared the 2021-22 Volleyball Thailand League Best Scorer.
Chery Tiggo's victory against NXLED marked their third consecutive win, solidifying their position with five wins and a single loss overall. Looking ahead, the team is set to face the streaking PLDT, where Paat is expected to further showcase her skills as she continues her reintroduction to the league. Paat's return not only increases Chery Tiggo's chances but also adds an exciting dimension to the unfolding narrative of the 2023 PVL Second All-Filipino Conference.
