No timetable yet for Valdez return

Alyssa Valdez's injury update has been the talk of the town for fans and analysts alike in the Philippine Volleyball League (PVL). The Creamline Cool Smashers skipper has been out of commission since her injury last December during the bronze medal match against Chery Tiggo in the Reinforced Conference.

On Saturday, before the Cool Smashers' game against Chery Tiggo, the Rebisco-backed squad announced that Valdez had undergone a procedure to help her recover faster and come back stronger. The Creamline management is expected to release a statement once everything is final.

Despite walking out of Philsports Arena on crutches after the announcement, Valdez has remained silent about her status for the ongoing PVL All-Filipino Conference. Her coach, Sherwin Meneses, has not spoken to her about it either.

But despite the lack of official statements, Meneses talked about Valdez's perseverance and determination to return to the court. He commended her for her hard work during her rehab and leadership skills during team training sessions.

"When you arrive at training, she is already there. She even arrives earlier than you. Every day, if you are five minutes late, it's already questionable. She is always early, even though her rehab is just on the side, so she is really a leader," said Meneses.

Valdez's absence has not stopped Creamline from winning games, though. The team's latest victory against Crossovers put them at the top spot with a league-best 4-1 win-loss standing.

As fans eagerly await Valdez's return, the Cool Smashers continue to show their resilience and depth as a team. The PVL All-Filipino Conference remains highly competitive, and the fans can expect more exciting matches in the coming weeks.
