Nxled romps past Galeries, notches 1st win

Nxled finally ignited its Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference campaign with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-15 triumph over Galeries Tower at the Philsports Arena in Pasig Tuesday night, injecting life into the Chameleons’ drive following a shaky start with three consecutive losses.

Despite facing some anxious moments, the Chameleons rallied in the opening frame and thwarted the Highrisers’ comeback in the next. Nxled briefly trailed by two twice early in the third, the last at 6-8. But they emerged from the first technical timeout with a burst of three straight points, taking control and then unleashing a dominant 5-point run to turn a close 11-10 game into a six-point advantage.

From that point onward, the Chameleons maintained control, effectively trading hits and capitalizing on the Highrisers’ miscues to secure the victory in one hour and 32 minutes.

The win provides significant morale boost as Nxled looks ahead to its upcoming duel with sister team Akari on Saturday at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.

Camille Victoria and Lycha Ebon played pivotal roles in Nxled’s decisive finish while the Chameleons’ continued to pounce on the Hightowers’ mistakes to pound out the victory that tied them with the Chargers and the Capital1 Solar Spikers at eighth.

However, it was Ivy Lacsina who emerged the brightest star for Nxled, contributing 17 points in her most prolific performance since joining the team. The former F2 Logistics stalwart expressed her joy over the victory, emphasizing its morale-boosting impact on the team.

She also expressed hope that the win serves as a starting point for their campaign in the season-opening conference of the league organized by Sports Vision.

“Sobrang saya kasi nakaka-boost ng morale ng team,” said Lacsina, who also highlighted the importance of teamwork and patience, underscoring these virtues as crucial elements for the team’s comeback bid.

“After ng magkakasunod na talo, we hope na dito magsisimula para umangat ang laro namin,” she said.
Ebon finished with 15 points, Victoria had 10 markers while Kamille Cal and Jho Maraguinot added six and four points, respectively.

Galeries Tower, which drew eight points from Ysa Jimenez and seven markers from Joy Doromal, dropped to 0-4 with Strong Group.

Mary Anne Esguera chipped in six points while Shola Alvarez and Gracielle Bombita matched five-point outputs for the Highrisers.
