Oliver Almadro bids Choco Mucho farewell

With a heavy heart, Oliver Almadro has resigned from his post as Choco Mucho head coach.

Rebisco, the mother company of Choco Mucho, accepted Almadro's decision on Tuesday while naming Edjet Mabbayad as the Flying Titans' interim head coach.

"This decision was reached for him to focus his efforts in developing the Ateneo Women's Volleyball Program and will take effect immediately," Rebisco's statement read.

It was a tough decision for Almadro to make as Choco Mucho is currently in the midst of its 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference campaign, holding a 2-3 record.

"Being the head coach of Choco Mucho Flying Titans has become one of the greatest blessings and opportunities that I have received," said Almadro, who has been the head coach of Choco Mucho since its inception in 2019.

"Though this may be abrupt and with heavy hearts, I have requested the Rebisco Management, that I will be allowed to step down as head coach of the Choco Mucho Flying Titans. This is to allow me to focus on my duties and responsibilities as head coach of the Ateneo Women's Volleyball Team."

In six conferences, Almadro, a product of Letran, steered Choco Mucho to two fourth-place finishes.

"We thank Coach 0 for the invaluable contribution he brought to our team since it was formed in 2019. Coach 0 has embodied what Titan Pride is all about — the work ethic and passion for the sport. Rebisco Management has nothing but admiration for Coach 0, and we are sincerely grateful for his trust, faith and courage throughout his tenure. To his family and wife Jen, maraming salamat for all the support and dedication through these years," continued Rebisco's statement.

Almadro is grateful for the time he spent with the Flying Titans.

"I would like to thank Sir Jonathan Ng, Rolly Delfino, Alan Acero, Atty. Lily Kho Gruba, Aileen Rodas, Lizanne Co, and the whole of Rebisco Management for entrusting me with this team. I would also like to thank my players and coaching staff who became part of my growth as a professional volleyball coach," he said.

"I am grateful to the fans who supported and prayed for me in my coaching stint with the Flying Titans. Last but not the least, I would like to thank my family who is always with me in my journey no matter what."
