Paat, Rivera share light moment

What could be another one of those classic "swag" moments turned out to be a funny one during the Chery Tiggo-Akari battle in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.

Mylene Paat smashed an off-the-block spike over Prisilla Rivera, the Chargers' import, to deliver Chery Tiggo to the second technical timeout in the fourth frame, 16-10.

After the powerful hit, Paat looked on the other side of the net, seeing the 37-year-old Rivera looking straight into her eyes.

“Hindi ko po talaga balak mag-angas,” quipped Paat, who once suited up in Thailand, after their 23-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 15-6 victory on Saturday at Philsports Arena in Pasig.

“Ganon lang po talaga ako maglaro kapag nakablock parang magsstay yung kamay ko doon tapos nakaharap,” added Paat, who led the Crossovers with 19 points on 17 spikes and two rejections.

However, with the intimidating three-time Olympian looking unfazed on the other end of the net, Paat thought twice about her actions.

The 5-foot-11 opposite spiker out of Adamson then flashed a sweet smile to Rivera, who tallied 30 points in the loss.

“Hindi ko inexpect na nakaharap din siya sa akin so pagkatingin ko talaga sa kanya, peace na lang ako."

“Nagulat po ako syempre kasi nasa harap ko eh. Sisigaw dapat ako that time, sisigaw talaga ako kaso napigilan ‘yung sigaw ko kasi nakita ko nakatingin pa siya sa akin – sa mata ko mismo.”

The two stars then had another sweet moment later during the same set after Rivera's 'regalo' went straight to Paat. The Akari reinforcement quickly checked on the latter and apologized.
