Petro Gazz bounced back from its opening day loss and swept Choco Mucho 25-18, 25-20, 25-21 in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, Thursday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
It was a bounce back win for the Angels, who were coming off a 25-18, 25-20, 25-22 loss to Creamline on opening day.
“I’m very thankful sa kanila [players ko] but it’s not about me considering na ‘di pa naman ako matagal sa kanila. So, siguro ang naidagdag ko na lang is yung motivation, yung character, but the skills are there," said Petro Gazz head coach Oliver Almadro.
Aiza Pontillas put up a vintage performance in the highly-anticipated match that lasted for just 98 minutes, finishing with 19 points and 14 excellent digs.
Grethcel Soltones chimed in 11 points and 13 excellent receptions while Jonah Sabete added nine markers -- including the match-deciding kill.
Djanel Cheng glued things together with 18 excellent sets.
Kat Tolentino was the sole double-digit scorer for Choco Mucho, who are tied with Petro Gazz in the standings with 1-1 records, with 14 points.
