After losing Grethcel Soltones to Akari, Petro Gazz announced that it has signed Michelle Morente and Joy Dacoron for the upcoming Premier Volleyball League season.
Morente, who had an impressive campaign with PLDT, fell out of head coach Rald Ricafort’s rotation in the season-ending Second All-Filipino Conference due to the arrival of Fil-Canadian hitter Savannah Davison and the emergence of Erika Santos.
Petro Gazz expressed their excitement in a Facebook post, saying, “Your high-octane energy will surely drive us to our desired destination! We're glad to have an Angel named Momo! Welcome, Mich Morente.”
The former La Salle standout will join an Angels side that is still reeling from the loss of star outside spiker Soltones, who decided to join the Chargers following a three-season stint with Petro Gazz.
Dacoron is also heading to Petro Gazz alongside fellow middle blocker Ethan Arce.
After dabbling in pageantry, the former Adamson University player made her return to the PVL with F2 Logistics in the Second All-Filipino Conference, where she only tallied a total of 19 points on 11 attacks, six blocks, and two aces for the entire tournament.
Dacoron is set to strengthen the Angels’ middle blocker rotation that is set to miss Ranya Musa, who tore her right ACL in the season-ending conference.
Petro Gazz is coming off a disappointing campaign in the Second All-Filipino Conference, where they missed the semifinals and finished in sixth place with a 6-5 card.
