Petro Gazz taps Gia Day as import for AVC Champions League

Petro Gazz has tapped American outside spiker Giovanna Milana Day as its lone import for the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League, hoping to sustain the momentum from its historic title run in the Premier Volleyball League.

Standing at 6-foot-2, Day brings with her a wealth of international experience, having played in top professional leagues in France, Puerto Rico, Italy, Indonesia, and South Korea. She most recently suited up in her home country for the Athletes Unlimited Pro League and LOVB (League One Volleyball), showcasing her versatility and firepower on the wing.

With mainstays Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips still tied up with USA Volleyball commitments, Petro Gazz looked to the dynamic and battle-tested Day to fill its lone reinforcement slot for the prestigious continental tournament.

The Angels are riding high after dethroning the Creamline Cool Smashers and capturing the 2024–25 All-Filipino Conference crown—ending a six-season reign and cementing their place in PVL history.

Now, they turn their attention to the AVC stage, carrying both momentum and ambition.

Petro Gazz is slotted in Pool B alongside Kaohsiung Taipower of Taiwan and Hip Hing of Hong Kong. The Angels will kick off their campaign against the Taiwanese squad on Monday, followed by a Tuesday clash with the Hong Kong team.

Both matches will be played at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
