Philippines to make bid for Women's World Championship

The Philippines, renowned for its fervent love of volleyball, has set its sights on securing the grandest stage in the sport: the 2025 FIVB Women's World Championship.

Following the successful staging of the last two editions of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League, the Philippine National Volleyball Federation has announced its bid to host the prestigious tournament.

Federation president Ramon 'Tats' Suzara declared, "I would like to officially announce that we are bidding for the 2025 Women's World Championships."

Next week, Suzara will personally present the federation's bid during the formal submission in Poland. The Philippines faces competition from Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Indonesia, as these nations also vie for the opportunity to welcome the world's elite volleyball teams.

FIVB has invited all the bidding countries to a pivotal meeting in Gdansk, Poland, held during the VNL Men's Finals.

If successful, the Philippines will host 16 teams for the group phase, with two other countries accommodating additional pools.

Suzara emphasized the nation's strengths as a host, noting how the FIVB and Volleyball World recognize the Philippines' remarkable ability to organize and captivate audiences during the Volleyball Nations League.

The passionate volleyball fans, whose enthusiasm knows no bounds, have been a driving force behind the success of previous tournaments held in the country.

The 2025 Women's World Championship promises to be an even grander affair, featuring 32 teams competing for the ultimate title. This expansion represents a significant increase from the previous editions, where 24 teams participated.

Such an enlarged tournament would undoubtedly bring heightened excitement, showcasing the sport's global growth and competitiveness.

For the Philippines, a successful bid to host the Women's World Championship would mark a momentous occasion. The last time the nation participated in this prestigious event was in 1974 in Mexico, where the team finished in 18th place.

By securing the hosting rights, the Philippines would have the opportunity to showcase its evolution and rekindle its prowess on the international stage.

The bid to host the 2025 FIVB Women's World Championship represents a bold stride for Philippine volleyball, a testament to the nation's passion for the sport and its desire to leave an indelible mark in the global volleyball community.

Should the bid prove successful, the Philippines will welcome the world's best teams, fans, and volleyball enthusiasts to an extraordinary tournament, fostering camaraderie, and propelling the sport to even greater heights.
